Carpe Diem Cleaning is honored to be featured in a photo essay by the Small Business Revolution showcasing 100 small businesses around the country. Over the next several weeks, we’re taking you behind the scenes to illustrate what this recognition means to our community. This recognition doesn’t just belong to Carpe Diem; it belongs to our supporters, to our clients, and to the community in which we live!
To celebrate, we sat down with Wendy Clark, CEO and founder of Carpe Diem, to learn how recognition from the Small Business Revolution will impact the Triangle and beyond.
Wendy founded Carpe Diem in 1994 as a young entrepreneur with a goal of making a difference in her community. Over the past couple of decades, Carpe Diem has accomplished just that, by creating the largest locally-based residential cleaning service in the Triangle while providing resources for those in need of opportunities. The Carpe Diem team is grateful that their years of hard work and entrepreneurism received recognition through this nationwide honor.
When the Small Business Revolution initially got in touch with the Carpe Diem team, Wendy said it almost seemed too good to be true. “I initially thought, oh wow, what an honor. It was really even more special that they found me versus me applying for it,” she said.
Wendy said the Small Business Revolution’s interest in Carpe Diem validated the company’s mission and vision. “It reaffirms that business is a vehicle to impact community,” Wendy said. “We need more of corporate America to do stuff like that.”
The Carpe Diem team is grateful for the Small Business Revolution recognition, because it highlights practical steps a community can take to impact poverty by providing opportunities for economic development. Wendy said she’s hopeful the photo essay will feature that work. “It was a brilliant gift,” Wendy said.
